RB Digital and RB Comics- They’re Free!

Learn more about RBdigital and RB Comics, a free online service accessible with a library card.

Hello! Faye the apprentice here, remember my BorrowBox blog? Well I’m back to tell you about another FREE service. (Yay!)

Do you enjoy browsing through a magazine? Enjoy a bit of celebrity gossip, crafting, perusing holiday destinations or browsing interior design? Maybe you prefer the escapism of colourful graphics in comic books and graphic novels?

Did you know that with your library card you can access over 140 magazines and comics for FREE. Yes FREE.

RBdigital Magazines and RB Comics, can be read anywhere, anytime on desktop computers, mobile devices, and via the app. The collection includes both new and backlist titles of popular digital magazines and comics. No waiting list, no checkout periods, and no limits so you can take out as many as you want!

The start of spring brings ambition of decluttering and money saving for many (including myself). To minimise waste and clutter, online magazines are the perfect solution. They won’t get soggy while you’re waiting for a bus, they don’t need to be stored somewhere gathering dust and you can select more than one as there isn’t a limit for downloads. You can even choose to receive the next edition automatically, how handy is that?

I’ve personally subscribed to Mollie Makes and Artist & Illustrators but with such a large range to choose from its easy to find something that peaks your interest.

There is also a smaller range of children’s magazines including Horrible Histories and National Geographic Kids. Both of which could be useful homework aids or simply to entertain curious young minds.

I do admit that there is something nostalgic about cutting out a great recipe, star sign or useful address and keeping it pinned to the fridge. So, I’m not suggesting anyone stops purchasing or gives up physical copies, but RBdigital does give you the freedom to sample different styles without having to commit.

With access to over 140 magazines, comics and graphic novels in your pocket or on your laptop or tablet for no extra cost, weight or hassle it’s perfect for commuting, travelling and holidays!

Handy Hints

If you’re visual like me then you’ll want to see the layout to understand:

There’s a navigation bar on the left-hand side which has many useful functions.

Zoom function and layout control are useful for optimum viewing.

You can bookmark a page to refer to later. Perfect for marking a great article, image or simply to hold your place in the comic.

It saves hours of time rummaging through old copies looking for that recipe from that issue back in May, or was it June? With the bookmark facility you can simply pop back in where you’ve marked. If you do want a hard copy, there is the option to print.

You can print from our library computers for a small charge, prices can be found here.

So, what are you waiting for? Go and explore RBdigital and RBcomics today!
